BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound 157) ist ein synthetisches Pentadecapeptid aus 15 Aminosäuren, dessen Sequenz von einem Teilabschnitt eines Schutzproteins des menschlichen Magensafts abgeleitet ist. In der präklinischen Forschungsliteratur wird BPC-157 seit den 1990er-Jahren in unterschiedlichen Zell- und Tiermodellen beschrieben, unter anderem in Untersuchungen an Fibroblastenkulturen, zu Angiogenese-Signalwegen sowie an Sehnen-, Muskel- und Magen-Darm-Gewebe. Publikationen heben zudem die vergleichsweise hohe Stabilität des Moleküls in wässriger Lösung hervor, weshalb es in experimentellen Settings häufig als Modellpeptid eingesetzt wird. Die genannten Arbeiten sind Grundlagenforschung; sie erlauben keine Aussagen über Wirkungen beim Menschen.
