DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) ist ein Nonapeptid aus neun Aminosäuren, das 1977 von der Arbeitsgruppe um Schoenenberger und Monnier erstmals aus dem venösen Blut von Kaninchen isoliert und beschrieben wurde. Seither wird DSIP in der neurowissenschaftlichen Grundlagenforschung untersucht, unter anderem in Tiermodellen zur Schlaf-EEG-Aktivität, zu zirkadianen Rhythmen sowie zu Stress- und neuroendokrinen Regelkreisen. Die physiologische Rolle des Peptids ist in der Literatur bis heute nicht abschließend geklärt, was es zu einem interessanten Gegenstand mechanistischer Studien macht. Aussagen über Wirkungen beim Menschen lassen sich daraus nicht ableiten.
