Immunology Research

Immunology research describes how innate and adaptive defence systems exchange signals: maturation and differentiation of T-cell populations, Toll-like receptor activation of dendritic cells, cytokine profiles after stimulation, and counter-regulation through vasoactive and neuroimmune mediators. Observations are made on isolated lymphocytes, on macrophage and co-culture systems, and in preclinical inflammation models. The two substance groups in this field differ in biological origin: Thymosin Alpha-1 is an acetylated thymic peptide used mainly in models of T-cell maturation and cytokine response, while VIP, the vasoactive intestinal peptide, belongs to the neuroimmune signalling system and is applied in studies on the modulation of inflammatory cell responses. Methodologically, handling within the assay is the central concern: peptides adsorb to plastic surfaces and thereby lose effective concentration, so carrier protein in the buffer, the choice of vessel material, avoidance of repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and a clean dilution series determine how robust the resulting cytokine data will be. Every batch is tested in our own laboratory by HPLC and UV/Vis spectroscopy, and the batch-specific certificate of analysis can be viewed before purchase – the COA Guide explains how to read it. For research use only. Not for use in or on the human body.
