Buy KPV – KPV is the tripeptide Lys-Pro-Val, corresponding to the C-terminal fragment 11–13 of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Unlike full-length alpha-MSH, KPV is regarded in the literature as largely independent of the classical melanocortin receptors MC1R to MC5R; an intracellular site of action is discussed instead, along with transport via PepT1 in epithelial cells. As a model substance, KPV serves to examine modulation of the NF-kB pathway and expression of IL-8 and TNF-alpha in intestinal epithelial lines such as Caco-2 and HT-29. Further questions concern keratinocyte and fibroblast cultures and scratch-assay models of cell migration. The decisive difference from the parent hormone is practical: the short, unmodified tripeptide is easier to synthesise, shows no pigmentation effects and is more robust towards heat and lyophilisation than the tridecapeptide alpha-MSH. KPV dissolves in water and physiological buffers; because of the basic lysine residue, the pH of the stock solution requires attention.
